I confess…It is mid-July, and I just bought my first annuals of the season for our dull, lifeless deck. I bought them at Wal-Mart (it’s amazing what good deals you can get if you REALLY procrastinate!) and though it was somewhat slim pickins, I got some beautiful zinnias and pinkish, purplish vinca for pots. I am pretty impressed with the quick turn-around our deck has made. I went for the under-stated look (no one will mistake my deck for the botanical paradise of my neighbor), but it still looks quite nice and adds some MUCH-needed color to the place.
Now, let’s see if I can keep them alive. Must remember—water.
Moral of the story: It’s never too late–at least, not yet!
