The Little Things

I am married to a great guy. He is all of the good things I can think of–plus a little more (grin). One of his finest qualities is his heart for romance. He remembers the little things, like coming home after work and insisting on taking over baths and bedtime (when our children were young) while I went out to the bookstore or anywhere, getting up EVERY Saturday and making pancakes (maybe a tradition he wishes he hadn’t started), and always making my birthday a special day.

We agreed many years ago that Valentine’s Day would be “cards only”. (Looking back, I think this was because had no cash…) We loved telling people that, at our house, EVERY day was Valentine’s Day! We still say that–and pretty much, it’s true. (Aren’t we fortunate?)

I wanted to show you what I saw this morning when I opened the cabinet for my mug…

And then when I opened the silverware drawer…

There was another on my steering wheel!

I know he loves me, but it’s nice to know that he thinks about me–when he’s making my coffee the night before or when he offers to run to the store at 10:00 on a cold rainy night for the orange juice when I know he’d rather relax in a quiet house where children are sleeping.

Little things mean a lot–in love, in life, and at home.

Happy Valentine’s Day.
