I’ve tried to think about the possible reasons for my delay–sick children, vet appointments, club meetings, dinner, and laundry–but while those things may be a factual part of my life, they are not the reasons for delay in posting. What it comes down to is fear–fear of not quite understanding how blogs work (or what “code” is), fear of not really having anything new to say, fear of bad writing. You name it, I have probably thought about and worried it to the point of exhaustion. When it comes to this website, that is.

 I think home projects are a lot like this for many people. We feel like we are jumping into something without really knowing how to do it. So, what do we do? We think about it…for a long time. We go to the library and buy books and read and think and think and think. And you know what happens? Not much that you can see.

Research is important, but a good thing can be over done. Sometimes you just have to get started. It might not turn out exactly as you had hoped. It might turn out better! Besides, what’s the worst that could happen? (…OK, let’s not go there…) The rewards may surprise you!

Start small. One can of spray paint. Or in my case, one post. It might not be the best, but at least I did it. Maybe next time I’ll figure out how to add photos. Maybe next time, you will figure out how to paint furniture and add some antiquing.

So, think some and read some, but eventually you will just have to give it the old college try. You can always paint over it…And I can always go back and edit!
